India’s technology services sector achieved a major milestone as HCLTech secured a massive $1.14 billion strategic contract with a Europe-headquartered Fortune Global 50 company. The mega-deal represents a significant validation of the company’s aggressive pivot toward artificial intelligence and stands out as one of the largest single IT contracts signed by an Indian provider this year.(NIE)

Under the terms of the agreement, HCLTech will deploy an advanced, AI-driven operating model designed to modernize and manage the unnamed European client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network operations. By integrating AI natively into the infrastructure, the model will oversee employee device management, internal collaboration systems, and the underlying network connectivity that ties together the multinational corporation’s expansive global footprint.

Management confirmed that the contract represents entirely “net-new” business, rather than a consolidation or renewal of an existing account. This provides a substantial boost to the firm’s organic pipeline at a time when traditional outsourcing demand faces tighter enterprise budgets. The multi-year commitment is structured to run for an initial term of five-and-a-half years—spanning from July 2026 through December 2031—and features an option for an additional five-year extension.

The announcement sent waves of optimism through the financial markets. Shares of HCLTech surged by as much as 6.3% in intraday trading, rallying the broader Indian technology sector and lifting the Nifty IT index by 2.7%. Investors welcomed the massive order-book addition, which marks HCLTech’s largest single contract win since its blockbuster $2.1 billion agreement with Verizon in August 2023.

The timing provides critical momentum just ahead of HCLTech’s upcoming first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report scheduled for July 13. While the company has maintained a conservative full-year revenue growth forecast of 1% to 4%, this deal secures a steady, predictable revenue stream that strengthens its financial footing.

This contract caps off a period of intense institutional positioning. HCLTech has actively assembled a next-generation ecosystem, including recent AI-driven telecom partnerships with Nokia, the acquisition of business intelligence platform Jaspersoft, and a strategic investment in sovereign AI startup Sarvam AI. By leveraging these capabilities to capture a multi-billion dollar enterprise contract, HCLTech has firmly signaled its readiness to compete at the absolute highest tier of the evolving global AI economy.
