Accenture Buys IndX to Scale Siemens Software and Industrial AI Solutions

Global professional services firm Accenture has reached an agreement to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Engineering Group and a premier partner of Siemens Digital Industries. The strategic transaction aims to enhance Accenture’s suite of digital engineering and manufacturing solutions, giving industrial clients more robust tools to modernize their product development, factory floor production, and logistics operations using software, data, and advanced artificial intelligence.

Headquartered jointly in Rome and Chicago, IndX provides highly specialized software expertise tailored for discrete and process manufacturers. The firm focuses on building digital thread solutions that seamlessly connect engineering, production, and automation systems across operational technology and traditional enterprise IT structures. This encompasses advanced technological integrations ranging from product lifecycle management and digital twin simulations to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), industrial edge computing, and cloud frameworks.

IndX services a diverse, high-profile corporate client base spanning sectors such as aerospace and defense, automotive, energy, high tech, life sciences, and utilities. Its global footprint includes a workforce of more than 650 highly skilled professionals located across the United States, Italy, India, Germany, Mexico, and other European nations. Following the deal’s closing, this international team will integrate into the Accenture Siemens Business Group, an elite global practice established last year to merge industrial operational tech with generative AI engineering solutions.

The integration is expected to scale collective industrial AI systems, reducing product engineering time-to-market while vastly improving factory floor efficiencies. To anchor this collaborative push, Accenture announced plans to establish two new dedicated Centers of Excellence for Siemens Digital Industries solutions in Italy and India. These specialized hubs will bring together top engineering talent and advanced digital technology assets to help companies globally redesign supply chain management and build smarter, more flexible factories.

While financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, completion of the acquisition remains subject to standard, regulatory closing conditions. Accenture plans to absorb IndX’s auxiliary technology assets into its alternative, respective specialized internal business units as part of its ongoing digital core expansion strategy.
