Verallia is no longer under investigation by the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) for possible collusive practices. The authority decided to close, without further action, the investigation launched in 2023 into price increases in the wine bottle sector affecting several glass manufacturers, including Verallia Italia.

According to the AGCM, the price rises observed in 2022 were driven by exceptional economic conditions—most notably significant increases in energy and raw material costs—alongside strong market demand. The authority found no evidence of coordinated behavior among market players.
The decision highlights that the observed price developments were a response to market conditions rather than anti-competitive practices. Verallia has emphasized that it maintains independent pricing policies, guided by quality, supply security, and long-term value creation for its customers.
The outcome provides clarity for stakeholders in the glass packaging sector, underscoring that price adjustments in 2022 were consistent with competitive market dynamics rather than regulatory violations. solutions.

The company is still under the radar by the French competition authority. On March 27, 2025, the French Competition Authority conducted unannounced inspections at the offices of Verallia France in La Défense and Orora’s Saverglass unit. These actions were part of an investigation into potential anticompetitive practices within the glass packaging manufacturing and marketing sector. While the end of the Italian investigation is independent from the French one, the fact that the regulator didn’t find any evidence of collusion, it may also help the company in the French investigation

The market showed a timid positive reaction to the news, with a positive stock price move of around 1%
