Vodafone Group announced an agreement to acquire the German cloud services company Skaylink for €175 million, marking a significant step in the telecom giant’s expansion into enterprise cloud services. With the deal, revealed on October 30, 2025, Vodafone aims to bolster its capabilities in multi-cloud management, cybersecurity, and AI-enabled IT services for European business customers.
Skaylink, headquartered in Germany, focuses on cloud migration, modernization, and managed services based in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). With over 500 employees and 1,000 clients across Europe, the company has developed a strong presence in the enterprise IT market, particularly among mid- to large-sized organizations seeking to accelerate their digital transformation.
In a press release, Vodafone said Skaylink’s customer-centric focus and broad capabilities will provide Vodafone business and public sector customers with enhanced digital solutions and support.
The acquisition will see Vodafone purchase a majority stake in Skaylink from Waterland Private Equity, which first invested in the company five years ago and helped it grow into one of Europe’s leading IT companies. During its partnership with Waterland, Skaylink expanded from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland into other European markets, including Denmark and Lithuania.
Skaylink CEO Frank Strecker welcomed the news and expressed excitement for the future:
“Waterland has been a reliable and forward-looking partner throughout this journey. Going forward, as part of the Vodafone Group, we look forward to combining our strengths with the resources of a global ICT leader to drive the next stage of our growth.”
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of March 2026, following regulatory approval.
