The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority (DCCA) has launched a market consultation regarding the proposed acquisition by Skifter Lastbil A/S of sole control over Volvo Truck Center Viborg and Volvo Truck Center Holstebro from Volvo Danmark A/S. Interested parties are invited to submit comments on the transaction by 13 November 2025 at 12:00 noon.

The transaction concerns the transfer of Volvo Denmark’s Viborg and Holstebro branches, both active in the sale and repair of Volvo and Renault trucks, as well as leasing and financing services. Skifter Lastbil A/S already operates in similar business areas, including the sale, repair, leasing, financing, and rental of Volvo and Renault trucks. The company also sells Palfinger AG cranes, provides fleet management systems, and offers financial services through VFS Denmark A/S, Volvo’s leasing arm. Its existing branches are located in Aabenraa, Padborg, Esbjerg, and Herning.

The DCCA notes that Volvo Truck Center Holstebro was already acquired by Skifter Lastbil on 17 September 2024. However, because the agreements to acquire the Holstebro and Viborg centers were concluded between the same parties within a two-year period, the two transactions are regarded as a single merger under Danish competition law.

According to the notification submitted by the parties, the transaction constitutes a merger subject to the Danish Competition Act’s merger control provisions. As such, the acquisition cannot be fully implemented until it has been approved by either the DCCA or the Danish Competition Council.

Through this consultation, the authority seeks views from stakeholders and market participants on the potential impact of the merger on competition in the markets for truck sales, repair, leasing, and related services. The feedback will inform the DCCA’s assessment of whether the proposed consolidation could affect competition among authorized Volvo and Renault dealers in Denmark.
